As far as hybrids... perhaps a variety of alternative energy powered vehicles? Maybe 2 or 3 that have the most promise, would help spread the demand... so we don't end up with all our apples in one basket....again.

Great article! I think biodiesel can't compete with hybrid technology! To produce biodiesel we need either plants or animal fat. If we start mass producing biodiesel the price of the plants (soybean, sunflower...) would skyrocket. Why? Because we would need more and more land to grow plants.

Hey! Thanks for the great info. I was browsing through a bunch of green websites and blogs and I came across yours and found it very interesting. There are a bunch of others I like too, like the daily green, ecorazzi and earthlab.com. I especially like EarthLab.com’s carbon calculator (http://www.earthlab.com/signupprofile/). I find it really easy to use (it doesn’t make me feel guilty after I take it). Are there any others you would recommend? Can you drop me a link to your favorites (let me know if they are the same as mine).

This is pretty interesting stuff, but despite the relatively diy nature of biodiesel, can it reallly compete with hybrid technology?
