I have the same problem. Dead batteries. No one told me that the car was only for driving long distances. I am ready to put it out of its misery. Lexu has not given me any satisfactory solutions.

I bought a brand new Lexus RX 400 last year from Lexus Reading, England. I thought the the hybrid technology was great and also better for the environment, whilst still having high performance, looks and great drive. How ever, this car did not work, it kept breaking down because the engine battery was not being charged, the hybrid battery took priority and my local journeys were never long enough to top up the engine battery. I took it back to Lexus to get it checked out, where upon they told me that my driving pattern didn't work with this car and to go to Argos and buy a battery charger. I could't believe it, the latest high performace hybrid doesn't work because my journey's were too short, Its a shame the salesman did't mention it when he sold it to me, guess what I wouldn't have gone near it. I spoke with customer services to see if this problem could be solved, after looking into it they replied that they were very sorry but unfortunately in my case the battery's performance has been affected by the low milage.I asked them to take it back, I eventually sold it back to them a market value and lost alot of money, my plan had been to keep the car for about 5 years to get more value out of it, not one year. So be warned this technology has a seriously fundamental flaw and does not do the job it was designed to do. Sally Fell
